Weird Coincidence? Or does Feng Shui actually work? To help your baby calm down at night?

Okay, so at our old apartment I never seemed to have problems getting my little man to sleep, but when we moved this all changed. Naps were also a little bit of a problem. Then I remembered this old show I used to watch called "mom swap." One of the moms was this total hippie, completely into karma and feng shui type stuff. Being a little of a hippie myself, and into metaphysical ideas, I remembered her telling the husband that the reason their daughter was out of control was because her bedroom was right under the kitchen. To settle this issue they put I think a fountain or something where there was constantly running water in the kitchen, because the kitchen represents a fire element... or some blah blah like that.

We had a fountain in the kitchen, but remembered the problems began after the fountain was removed.

So not intentionally I began to notice on days that I would place Ben down or a nap or bed, that if I had to use the stove or do any cooking during his sleep cycle, he had an almost impossible rest. But on days I had to do laundry during his naps or bedtime he slept great, and usually slept longer...

I put it to the test. I would do days I had to cook, and note in my memory what happened, ALWAYS every time Benjamin was restless to go down and would fuss during the nap, or wake in the night. I was intrigued, so then I began to ONLY do laundry and or dishes when he would go down for a nap or bed... The results were INSANE! He would go down right away, and sleep great. I am no longer a sceptic, if your kids room is right above the kitchen this should be considered. Constantly running water somehow balances the fire element of the kitchen, who knew?

Now you might not believe in any of this, and think I am a nutty hippie, but it works, it keep my little Benny sleeping, and I can't ignore what I have experienced. I now only cook before or after his naps, and always do any cleaning that involves water during nap or sleep time. The other alternative would be to maintain the fountain I put away, but at the time we are reorganizing, and something tells me it will be making an appearance very soon in our kitchen.

Thought I would share my little experience with working with Feng Shui, and plan to start trying to incorporate more into my home. Hope you enjoyed this, and happy sleeping ;)
